About Karen
Councilmember Karen Alexander was elected to the City Council in 2020. She serves as the Council liaison for the City Plan Commission and the Parks & Recreation Commission.
For the past 38 years, Alexander has been engaged in Residential Real Estate Finance. Her current position is Senior Vice President, Independent Compliance Risk Manager. Currently employed by Citibank, N.A., she serves as a subject matter expert on Citi’s Compliance program consistently delivering compliance advice while supporting assigned functional areas, business lines, and products, providing guidance on rules, laws, regulations, and interpretation of internal policies and procedures.
She is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), she was selected as a St. Louis Regional Commerce Business Diversity Fellow in 2020. Alexander received the Citibank Leadership in Excellence Award in 2015, was a recipient of the Mortgage Bankers Association Andrew Sheahan Leadership Award in 2008, and was a Coro Midwestern Women in Leadership Graduate in 2000.
She received her MBA from Webster University and her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Alexander's parents moved to Webster Groves and built their family home in North Webster in 1964. She is a product of the Webster Groves School District, attending Douglass Elementary, Plymouth Jr. High, and graduating one year early in the top 25 percent of her class at Webster High School. While her first home was in Maplewood, where she lived for 19 years, in 2005 she was able to purchase her current home on the same street as her youth and family home in North Webster.
