Proposition U
Prop U will appear on the April 2022 Ballot for Webster Groves residents to decide whether or not to install a Local Use Tax. Per State Law, voters must make this decision by proposition election. The ballot will read:
Shall the City of Webster Groves, Missouri be authorized to impose a local use tax at the same rate as the local sales tax by a vote of the governing body, provided that if any local sales tax is repealed, reduced or raised by voter approval, the respective local use tax shall also be repealed, reduced or raised by the same action? Yes: ___ No: ____
INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS: If you are in favor of the Proposition, vote “Yes” in the manner provided on the ballot form. If you are opposed to the Proposition, vote “No” in the manner provided on the ballot form.
A use tax is a tax on the purchase of goods by Webster Groves residents from out-of-state vendors that do not collect the local sales tax. The use tax is applied to the same products that would be subject to the sales tax if the products were sold locally.
The City of Webster Groves is developing educational materials to promote awareness of Prop U. If you are interested in learning more or helping promote awareness of the information, please visit this link.
Proposition W
The Webster Groves City Council approved the ordinance putting Proposition W on the ballot. The ballot will read:
Shall there be a Charter Review Advisory Board to make Recommendations to the City Council to revise and amend the Charter?
Yes: ___ No: ____
INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS: If you are in favor of the Proposition, vote “Yes” in the manner provided on the ballot form. If you are opposed to the Proposition, vote “No” in the manner provided on the ballot form.
Note: This proposition was initially listed as Prop C on January 18 but changed to Prop W on February 11, 2022 so it is not confused with a Prop C on the ballot for St. Louis County.
