APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Mr. Allen, seconded by Mr. Drissell, to approve the minutes of June 9, 2009.

AYES: AHEARN, ALLEN, DRISSELL, FERRIGNO, MANN

NOES: NONE

ABSENT: BAKKER, BRADLEY, EVANS, NASH

The June 9, 2009 minutes were approved.

 

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN THE ARTS AWARD NOMINEE

A motion was made by Mr. Drissell, seconded by Ms. Ferrigno, to nominate Ed Boccia for the 2010 Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award.

 

PLAN FOR PUBLIC ART - OUTLINE

The Commission discussed the Plan for Public Art outline. Members will submit their thoughts on further development of Part IV, and Part III will be discussed at a future meeting.

 

2010 COMMUNITY DAYS PARADE – THEME/PARTICIPATION

The Commission discussed the idea of making 2010 a “year of the arts” and integrating art into community events throughout the year. The Commission will discuss getting the community involved in the efforts at the August meeting.

 

AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

Mr. Drissell updated the Commission on the Awards and challenged each member to nominate a project for an award.     

 

KRESGE ARTS IN ST. LOUIS GRANT APPLICATION

In conjunction with the Community Arts Foundation, an application was submitted for a Kresge Arts in St. Louis grant.  Recipients will be notified in August.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
