WEBSTER
NIGHT AT THE OPERA - REVIEW
The Commission discussed Webster Night at the Opera. It was a good event, the theater was
cooperative and appreciative. We would
like to do it again and to use this model as the first Webster Night
at…event.
COMMUNITY
DAYS PARADE - REVIEW
The Commission commended the Community Arts Foundation for
their partnership in the float, as well as Tracy Drissell for her
assistance. The float won a parade
award, someone needs to attend the July 20 City Council meeting to accept the
award.
PUBLIC
ART PLAN
The Commission discussed the public art plan, guidelines,
specifications for each site, and a Call for Entry brought by Ms. Evans. The Commission will work on polishing the
guidelines and hopes to go before Council at their August 17 meeting, depending
on availability. Mr. Allen and Mr.
Drissell will work on the presentation.
Mr. Boogher talked about his t-shirts at the Fourth of July
Parade and handed out shirts to the Commission.
BROTHER
MEL SCULPTURE DEDICATION
We will see if Brother Mel is available September 4 for a
dedication of the pieces. The theme will revolve around tricycles.
MISCELLANEOUS
UPDATES
The Missouri Arts Council’s Creative Community Award
deadline is September 3. Mayor Welch,
Ms. Ferrigno, and Ms. Conrad will work on the application.
Mr. Ahearn updated the commission on the collaboration
between Caston’s Ballet Academie and the Old Orchard Gallery.
