DISCUSSION
WITH CATHARINE MAGEL
Catharine
Magel talked with the Commission about her vision for the mosaic finish on the
bird sculpture. She stated that she initially looked at the plaid as an
abstract way to talk about community (neighborhoods, cross-streets), but that
it may be too busy. She talked about the possibility of using a radiating color
from the center, changing color/value. She also stated that images and other
things change during the creative process.
Ms.
Bradley talked about the possibility of using nature images as opposed to the
city itself.
After
discussion, it was decided that Ms. Magel will provide a white model, a sample
mosaic board and a painted model.
