APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Ms. Bakker, to
approve the minutes of May 2, 2011.

were approved.
LIFETIME
ACHIEVEMENT IN THE ARTS
The
Commission discussed giving this year’s award to Esley Hamilton.
A
motion was made by Ms. Bakker, seconded by Ms. Bradley to nominate Esley
Hamilton for this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mayor
Welch will address the possibility of having the ceremony during the Arts
Weekend with those working on Arts Weekend.

PUBLIC ART DISCUSSION
The
Commission is meeting again with SWT on the 9th.
The
Commission looked again at their map and criteria for public art locations from
the ArtWays Plan. It would be great to have a priority list when we go to
donors.
Mayor
Welch stated that at Art & Air the previous weekend, she got 19 donors for
a Kevin Trobaugh kinetic piece for the Elm/Big Bend area in Crossroads. She was
able to get the donors because they could see the piece and knew where it might
go.
A
motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Mr. Ahearn to move forward with the
piece and take it to City Council for approval.

The
Commission discussed the process for the Magel piece.
MISCELLANEOUS
UPDATES
Night
at the Opera - Mr. Allen stated that Night at the Opera tickets are available
through the 20th, with the performance on the 22nd.
Art
& Air - Had many volunteers and went well, though it was very warm.
Arts
Weekend – October 29. Organization is coming along.
Community
Days Float – Ms. Bradley stated that there are two floats. One for the Arts
Commission/Foundation and one for America in Bloom.
Chamber
Music Festival – Ms. Ferrigno stated that the Festival is June 23-25. Tickets
are available.
