APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Mr. Ahearn, seconded by Ms. Cahoon, to approve the minutes of July 10, 2012.

AYES: AHEARN, ALLEN, CAHOON, DRISSELL, FERRIGNO

NOES: NONE

ABSENT: BAKKER, BRADLEY, EVANS, MANN

The July 10,, 2012 minutes were approved.

 

PRIORITY PROJECTS

The Commission discussed identifying art for the proposed sculpture park. The list of potential pieces/artists includes:

Evan Lewis

Kevin Trobaugh

Carol Fleming – benches/lights

Robin Murez – pavement

Pads for the University/High School

 

At the September meeting, Commissioners will bring in additional Missouri artists to consider.

 

SCULPTURE PARK

Mr. Drissell brought in a board of ideas for finishes on the bird sculpture submitted by Catherine Magel.  The Commission discussed the finishes.  

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT

The event is October 12 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.  The location is to be determined, as McCaughen & Burr (the original location) is moving.  Ms. Bradley will check to see if they will be open in their new location. 

 

UPDATES

Art on the Town – Art on the Town is October 13.

 

Awards of Excellence – Nominations are due September 7. The ceremony is November 8. Nominations are especially needed for landscape and historic preservation.

 

Ms. Ferrigno stated that the Chamber Music Festival received a Classical Commissioning grant from Chamber Music America.
