APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Ms. Cahoon, to approve the minutes of October 8, 2012.

NOES: NONE

ABSENT: AHEARN, FERRIGNO, MANN

The October 8, 2012 minutes were approved.

 

REVIEW: LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN THE ARTS

The Lifetime Achievement reception on October 12 went well. The speakers were great and the location was excellent .

 

Prior to discussion on the sculpture park, Carol Fleming came in to present ideas to the Commission.  She has created some models, and the ideas are rolling.  She brought in models of a seven piece sculpture. 

 

Following the presentation, the Commission discussed the proposal.

 

SCULPTURE PARK PRESENTATION TO COUNCIL

A presentation on proposed pieces for the sculpture park will be given to Council  on December 4. 

 

A motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Ms. Evans to proceed with the Evan Lewis piece.

CREATIVE COMMUNITY AWARD

Mayor Welch stated that Webster Groves won the Creative Community award this year. Ms. Bakker thanked Mayor Welch for all of her hard work on the application. The award will be given out at a reception on February 6 in Jefferson City. 

 

WG LIBRARY ART SELECTION

The Library has a donation of a painting from Alvin Metelman, and needs to choose between six pieces.  Mr. Drissell showed the pieces.  Additionally, the Library is seeking guidance on hanging their art in the new building.
