ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Ms. Cahoon, seconded by Mr. Ahearn, to approve the minutes of November 5, 2012.

AYES: AHEARN, BAKKER, CAHOON, DRISSELL, EVANS, FERRIGNO, MANN

NOES: NONE

ABSENT:BRADLEY

The November 5, 2012 minutes were approved.

 

SCULPTURE PARK PRESENTATION TO COUNCIL

A presentation on proposed pieces for the sculpture park will be given to Council on December 4.  Mayor Welch and Mr. Drissell went over the presentation.

 

Mayor Welch stated that we are bidding on three Trova pieces from Laumeier. 

 

A motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Ms. Evans to proceed with the Evan Lewis piece.

CREATIVE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

The Creative Community  award will be given out in a ceremony on February 6, at 2 p.m. in Jefferson City.  Mayor Welch stated that she thinks there should be a year or celebration.    

 

WG LIBRARY ART

Several Commission members were able to be at the Library for their art installation. They do have some pieces that need professional cleaning. They are interested in having a reception to celebrate their art.

 

AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

The awards had a great turnout.  They are thinking of having a tour of the winners in off years. 

 

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN THE ARTS

At the January meeting, Commissioners will bring nominees for the 2013 Lifetime Achievement award.
