APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Ms. Mann, seconded by Ms. Bradley, to approve the minutes of April 29, 2014 and the Special Meeting minutes of May 12, 2014.

AYES: AHEARN, BAKKER, BRADLEY, CAHOON, DRISSELL, EVANS, MANN

NOES: NONE

ABSENT: BENEDICT, FERRIGNO

The April 29 and May 12 minutes were approved.

 

NEXT STEPS: FUTURE PUBLIC ART

The Commission discussed pieces from Dr. Behrens and potential locations, something from Andy Andrasko, and what to do with the empty pad at the Sculpture Garden. Commission members will bring in or submit artists and pieces to view at the July meeting.

 

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Commission discussed possible recipients for the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award and will brainstorm for the July meeting.

 

UPDATES

Chamber Music Festival – The Festival is next week.

 

Parade – Ms. Bradley reserved spaces for the Commission, Foundation, and band. This year’s theme is Stars & Stripes. A parade subcommittee of Ms. Mann, Ms. Bradley, Ms. Evans, and Ms. Bakker will meet to discuss plans.

 

Ms. Evans talked about the sculpture event she attended. She will get her notes together and forward information to the Commission.

 

Mr. Ahearn is working with the Missouri Arts Council on signs for the Creative Community.

 

The next meeting is July 1 at 7:30 a.m.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 a.m.
