APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr.
Sargent noted that Connie Abeln, objected to the artist, not the movement of
the WWI monument.
It was
moved by Mr. Sharpe, seconded by Mr. Sargent, to accept the minutes as
corrected.

The motion
was approved.
The
Commission congratulated Judith Mann on an article about her in the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch. Ms. Mann gave an update on new exhibits opening at the St. Louis Art Museum.
Ms. Bakker
stated that Joyce Rosen of the Foundry in St. Charles would speak to the Commission at their October meeting.
The
Commission discussed possible community gallery / art center locations. A
subcommittee was formed to speak with Robin Lynch of the Old Orchard Business District
to discuss possibilities in the Old Orchard area.

REGIONAL
ARTS COMMISSION DIRECTORY
Ms. Conrad informed
the Commission that an entry for the Commission was placed on the Regional Arts
Commission’s online Directory. She also stated that the Arts Commission’s web
page was active.
ART
AWARDS
Mr. Sargent
stated that he would get the RFP on the award design to members of the Webster University faculty.
LOGO
Ms. Mann passed
around examples of logos from other arts commissions, and the Commission
discussed asking a graphics design class at the University or high school level
to create designs. It was decided that Ms. Mann would submit a range of logos
for the Commission to evaluate at the next meeting.

Ms. Evans
discussed the number of applications received for the 63119 Art Gallery tour.
OTHER
ISSUES

Mr. Allen
discussed the Community Foundation.
·
The Commission
decided to nominate the City for a Missouri Arts Council Creative Community
Award.
·
Mayor Welch
updated the Commission on the placing of “Back Flip.” She stated that it would
probably be around February. She stated that they would like to have the
monument moved in time for Veteran’s Day.
·
The Commission
discussed the possibility of placing an article or hosting a public forum as
part of the celebration of the art installation.
·
The nominating
committee is to report at the next meeting.
·
The Commission
discussed how and when to best recognize Ernestine Betsberg and Arthur Osver.
ADJOURNMENT
There being
no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at
8:37 p.m.
