APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by Ms. Bradley, seconded by Mr. Ahearn, to approve the minutes of March 13, 2007.

NOES: NONE

ABSENT: BAKKER, SHARPE

The March 13, 2007 minutes were approved.

 

UPDATES

LOGO SUBMISSIONS

The Commission reviewed the submissions, and asked for some adjustments to the tree submission.  

 

DEDICATION OF BACK FLIP

The Commission discussed the upcoming dedication.  It was decided to move it to Friday, June 1, at 5:30 p.m. to get some of the crowd for Art & Air without taking away from it.  Commissioners discussed ideas for music and other entertainment. 

 

STEVENS PROPERTIES

An update was given on the presentation at the April meeting.  Ms. Bradley stated that she toured the Old Orchard building and gave an update on its condition.  The Commission made plans to visit the site when possible.

The gallery tour is planned for the first weekend in November (11/3 and 11/4).  The “Paint Webster” competition had about 50 participants. 

 

The Arts Commission discussed the possibility of updating the framings of the paintings currently hanging in City Hall.  Ms. Evans and Ms. Mann will work together to get estimates on framing before the Budget Work Session. 

 

The Commission also discussed the possibility of putting together a series of notecards featuring the paintings, and doing further research on the history of the pieces. 

 

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – 2008

A suggestion was made to form a subcommittee for nominations.  Two suggestions were Ed Boccia and Rudy Torrini.  It was suggested that the Commission put together a list to choose from.  Each member is to bring suggestions for the next meeting. 

 

OTHER UPDATES

Mr. Allen handed out information on the Webster Community Arts Foundation.  He asked the Commission for input on a planning discussion to be held at Cyrano’s in June.  The Commission agreed that the discussion was a good idea. 

 

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 8:47 p.m.
