APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Mr. Allen, seconded by Ms.
Bradley, to approve the minutes of January 9, 2007.

The January 9, 2007 minutes were approved.
UPDATES
LOGO SUBMISSIONS
The Commission reviewed the submissions. It was decided
to extend the deadline until the April meeting.
REVIEW OF LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECEPTION
It was stated that the Community Arts Foundation received
a donation in honor of Ernestine Betsberg following the reception. A thank you
letter from Ms. Betsberg was read.
The Commission discussed the possibility of an oral
history project on Webster Groves artists. It was decided that the Commission
would talk to various filmmakers/historians to get an idea of interest in the
project.
INSTALLATION AND DEDICATION OF BACK FLIP
Mayor Welch announced that the time capsule opening was
set for 9:00 a.m. on March 13, 2007, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The
new flagpole is already up at the Recreation Complex, and the plaques are being
cleaned. There will be a rededication of the monument possibly on or around
Memorial Day.
The timetable for Back Flip is approximately 6 weeks. The
Commission asked to be advised of the arrival date for the sculpture. Possibilities
for the dedication were discussed.
The Commission asked about the placement for the Old
Orchard apples. The Mayor stated that the apples belong to the Business
District and they are currently considering options for refinishing and
placement.
COMMUNITY CENTER/THEATER
Mayor Welch stated that she was meeting with Dan Stevens
to discuss this topic in the next week. The Commission discussed several
options for a community center.
The Commission will submit “Art on Parade” as a theme for
the 4th of July Parade theme competition.
