Douglass Hill - What's Next? The Webster Groves Plan Commission meets on Monday, September 13 at 6 p.m. This is the final opportunity to submit public comments to the Plan Commission regarding the proposed Douglass Hill redevelopment project. You can view the agenda for this meeting on our website. There are a few ways to submit comments:The project began with the Plan Commission and a request for proposals back in 2020. Since then, that commission of volunteers has evaluated several aspects of the project and received community input. The Plan Commission’s work will eventually culminate in a vote on the project. After the Plan Commission votes, the considerations could move to the City Council for deliberations. In addition to the Plan Commission, there is also the TIF Commission, which is also comprised of community volunteers, 6 County Appointees, and Appointees from the School District, Business District, Special School District, & other Tax Districts. These members have many financial aspects to consider. They do not represent city employees, the City Council, or the City Manager -- they represent their respective entities. The TIF Commission will also vote on the project, after considering many factors. Once that vote occurs, that process also moves to the City Council for deliberations. The City Council is charged with reviewing all of the information from the Plan and TIF Commissions.
The City will continue to update residents on the process.

Support Old Orchard Businesses Please be aware that while construction work continues on Big Bend, our Old Orchard Businesses remain open and could use your support. Sidewalks have been removed on Big Bend Blvd from Murdoch to Dale on the north side of the street beginning. This is a federal grant project to do a continuation of the Old Orchard streetscape that previously ended at Murdoch. The work will include improvements to sidewalks, increased ADA accessibility, and a continuation of the decorative streetlights that will hold banners, and hanging plants. Utilities in that area have been relocated and many utility poles have been eliminated. Missouri American Water moved water lines into the street ahead of this construction. Work is expected to last for another 4-6 weeks and the north side parking lane will be blocked during this time.
