Douglass Hill

Douglass Hill Community Meeting

The City of Webster Groves is organizing a community information event on the proposed redevelopment:

City of Webster Groves Douglass Hill Community Meeting
Tuesday, November 30
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Hixson Middle School

This meeting will allow residents to meet with Councilmembers, City staff, members of the development team to learn more about key aspects of the proposed redevelopment. Small group interactions will allow attendees to have conversations, ask questions and share their input. 


Firehouse Demo

Firehouse 2 Demolition


The demolition of Firehouse #2 is complete, and firefighters have moved into the partially completed living quarters in the new building. At this time, in-service fire apparatus is stationed at the rear of the building under a canopy for protection. Following a site-clearing process, construction is scheduled to begin in late November, dependent on weather conditions and soil testing. The current anticipated completion date is set for April.

New Officers


The Webster Groves Police Department welcomes its two newest members, Officers Nicolas Harris and Cara Hern.

Officer Harris is a six-year U.S. Navy veteran who holds an undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe University and a graduate degree from the University of Chicago. He will be assigned to the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy in January for training and will be assigned as a patrol officer after he graduates in June.

Officer Hern is a graduate of the University of Missouri Law Enforcement Training Institute and possesses an associate degree in Criminal Justice. She has seven years of law enforcement experience, the most recent with Arnold, MO. She is currently assigned as a patrol officer.

Congratulations to the Webster Groves residents, employees and business owners represented in this year’s honor class of the St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Awards. The Business Journal highlighted a number of St. Louis area residents who are leaders in their industry and engaged in their community. This year, they honored:

Thanksgiving Hours 

Webster Groves City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Webster Groves Recreation Complex will be closed on Thanksgiving but will be open on Friday, November 26.

Holiday Fun with Parks & Recreation


The Webster Groves Parks & Recreation Department is full of holiday spirit with a number of fun activities for the holiday season:

Santa’s Special Delivery/Home Candy Cane Hunt: Sign up to have Santa’s helpers bring the candy cane hunt to you! Their elves will hide a dozen candy canes in your front yard on the date/time selected and will leave behind a goodie bag for your littles This is for Webster Groves residents only ($20).

Blackburn Park Candy Cane Hunt: On December 11th, Santa’s Reindeer will be busy dropping candy canes in Blackburn Park and some have special prizes attached! ($5 for residents/$7 for non-residents)

Santa Porch Visits: The Parks & Recreation Department has agreed to assist Santa in making pre-holiday rounds. Bundle up and wait outside your house for a porch visit from Santa. Times are available for December 11 and 18. This is for Webster Groves Residents only ($30).

Feed the Masses


The Webster Groves Parks & Recreation Department is joining 20 other Parks & Recreation Departments from the St. Louis Region in the second annual Feed the Masses food drive contest. Each department is competing to see who can donate the most food items to local food banks. Until November 30, residents are invited to bring food items to the Webster Groves Recreation Complex for donation to Webster Rock Hill Ministries.

The St. Louis region's largest and oldest Thanksgiving Day run gets set for its 39th annual edition. Choose between the 3-mile and 6-mile races. Run in-person or virtually! Rember to select Team Webster when registering!
